General Educational Philosophy
Music gives me great enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment, and I want to share that with my students. My goals are to develop solid musical skills and to foster the enjoyment of music.
Attitude and effort are the student’s greatest responsibilities; Although I can coach and guide students, each student is ultimately responsible for their progress and advancement.
Progress is made by combining small accomplishments into long-term progress- mindful consistent practice is the key, and students will achieve the best results with regular lessons and practice.
Attendance and Tuition
Lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute blocks and can be scheduled weekly or on an ala carte basis. All tuition is due in advance, refunds are not offered.
Lessons scheduled weekly are sold in blocks of four consecutive weeks and discounted based on pre-payment.
Students who schedule weekly will be billed every four weeks.
Students who schedule ala carte will be required to pre-pay their lesson a minimum of 48 hours in advance via Paypal (jeremyc.guitar@gmail.com) or Venmo (@JC-guitar).
Ala carte lessons are not subject to a discounted rate and scheduling preference will be given to students scheduling consecutive sessions.
Missed Lessons
Cancellations and reschedulings are best handled via the website. Texts, voicemails, and phone calls may be missed or improperly recorded.
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, 24-hour notice must be given or the lesson will be forfeited. Limited exceptions may be granted for illness.
Given 24-hour notice, the student will be issued a makeup credit they can use to schedule a makeup lesson in any available slot within the following 4 weeks; the credit will expire after that period.
It is the student’s (parent’s) responsibility to schedule any makeup lessons based on the available slots and within the specified timeframe.
If no makeup is scheduled, that lesson will be considered forfeit and no further tuition adjustments or accommodations will be considered.
Students may contact each other to work out slot exchanges and trades; I have no responsibility for scheduling in these situations.
If I can not attend a scheduled lesson or the teaching area is inaccessible due to weather conditions or a power outage, lessons will be credited toward the next block of lessons; refunds will not be given.
Instruments and Materials
Students without functioning instruments may forfeit their lesson time at my sole discretion. I do not provide instruments for students. I may make basic repairs in place of instructional time if I can.
Students are encouraged to maintain a stock of supplies (strings, capos, reeds, picks, etc) I may or may not have these on hand for students to use.
Expirations and Forfeits
Unscheduled pre-paid lessons are considered void after 60 days and unscheduled makeup lessons will be considered void after 4 weeks. No refunds or other arrangements will be considered.
Students with 2 or more "no-show" occurrences may forfeit their lesson slot and any remaining tuition balance without further notification.
Students with balances due longer than 14 days may forfeit their lesson slot without further notification at my sole discretion.
Students with balances due may not schedule additional lessons without my approval.
